Nuevo Portil Golf is the latest addition on the already extensive list of golf clubs affiliated to the Costa de la Luz association Atlantee Golf. This brand new course inaugurated in 2001 extends over one hundred acres a lush pine groves, nicely complemented by the new Silver 4* hotel to form a splendid golf resort which will soon climb high on the list of favourite golf destinations.
The golf course is located in an area with natural vegetation, mainly populated with pine, running along the sea to the south. This sandy field with its mild features, includes a great variety of sceneries with even areas and gentle slopes, perfect for a round of golf.
While the course’s smart technical design is suitable for international championship, golfers of every level will find the course enjoyable. Golf Nuevo Portil enjoys excellent weather all year round (13º to 24º) and over 300 days of sunshine and offers fantastic facilities to make your favourite sport sheer pleasure.
Accommodation
This colonial style hotel is situated on the western shore of the Costa de la Luz, near the seaside town of Punta Umbriain. The hotel is located on the 18 hole Nuevo Portil golf course and merges seamlessly into the lush wooded surroundings. All 69 guestrooms enjoy a private terrace overlooking the fairways or the wooded environment. Accommodation amenities are complemented by a full buffet breakfast, a la carte restaurant serving a light, creative cuisine accompanied by a comprehensive wine list, a state-of-the art fitness centre and an outdoor heated swimming pool. Three meeting rooms contain up to date audio-visual and communication facilities.
Location
The nearest town is Cartaya 9 km away, the region's capital of Huelva is 18 km away. The nearest Spanish airport is Sevilla International Airport at 110 km, Faro International Airport (Portugal), 90 km. The hotel faces the 'El Rompido' sand barrier which is more than 3 km long and 45 metres high, Nuevo Portil takes its name from the 'Laguna del Portil', a coastal lagoon which is also a bird sanctuary and safe haven for chameleons and is declared a Natural Reserve. Trips to Seville, Doñana National Park and Portugal can be arranged through the hotel.
